They're the same operation under two brands. Safe and Sound Pianos is the piano specialty. Top Notch Movers handles general residential and commercial moving, appliance and furniture delivery, and interior design installs.
Yes — that's a Top Notch Movers full-house move. Get in touch and we'll quote the full job under one umbrella.
No — we move, store, and rent. We're not a dealer.
We don't tune pianos in-house. We refer you to one of our trusted partners. Submit the form on the tuning page and we'll connect you with the right tuner.
Yes. Disposal is the same price as a regular move — we'll either take it to a donation center, the dump, or, if it's salvageable, refurbish and resell it (with your approval).
Yes, but they require extra care. Mention it when you book so we can prep the right crew and equipment.
Text or call: (801) 515-4413. Email: team@safeandsoundpianos.com. Or fill out the quote form and we'll respond within a few hours during business days.
Easiest path: use the cost calculator on our pricing page for an instant estimate, then text or call us to confirm. We'll ask a few questions about stairs and access to lock in the final price.
Type of piano (upright vs. grand, and rough size), pickup and drop-off addresses, any stairs at either location, and your preferred date.
We give a 2-hour window the day before the move, then text you when we're about 20 minutes away. We don't promise an exact time because the moves before yours can run a little long or short — the 20-minute heads-up gives you plenty of time.
A $50 deposit holds the date. We don't put anything on the schedule until the deposit is paid.
Venmo (@jonnyeberhard, last four 1811) or a card link we'll text over.
Reschedule any time more than 24 hours out and we apply your $50 deposit to the new date. Inside 24 hours, the deposit is forfeited and a new $50 deposit reserves the new date.
Saturdays by request only, with a $50 surcharge. Sundays unavailable.
Standard hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday–Friday. Anything after 4 PM at the customer's request is a $50 after-hours surcharge.
Base rates start at $150 for an upright piano under 48" tall and $275 for a grand under 6 ft, inside the Salt Lake Valley. Stairs, travel outside the Valley, and difficult access get added on top. Use the cost calculator on our pricing page for an instant estimate.
Most moves can be booked within the same week. We typically run 4–5 moves a day Monday through Friday. Saturdays are by request only and add a $50 surcharge. We don't move on Sundays.
Yes. We carry a $2 million general liability policy that covers your piano at both the pickup and drop-off locations. The only thing we don't cover is pre-existing damage.
Two to four, depending on piano size, stairs, and access. We bring the right crew for the job, and you don't need to arrange anything on your end.
A house-to-house move is from one address to another. An in-house move is within the same building (e.g., from the living room to the basement, or one floor to another). In-house moves are typically priced 25–35% lower than the equivalent house-to-house move.
Yes. Anywhere in Utah, and we do interstate moves on request. Travel outside the Valley is $150 per hour of round-trip drive time.
Almost certainly, yes. Upload a short video walking the path the piano will take to safeandsoundpianos.com/upload, including the stairs and the space at the top and bottom. We'll quote it accurately and bring the right crew and equipment.
No. Don't try to wrap it, don't try to dolly it, and please don't let your nephew help. We bring all the pads, straps, and equipment.
A $50 deposit reserves your spot. The balance is due on the day of the move via Venmo (preferred) or card.
A Yamaha white baby grand ($650/day), a Kohler & Campbell black grand ($500/day), an upright ($400/day), and a Roland HP 704 digital piano ($350/day).
Anywhere in Utah. Delivery and pickup are included from Lehi north to Beck Street. Outside that range, travel is $150/hour round-trip and applied twice (one trip for delivery, one for pickup).
Yes, with two caveats. First, you're liable for any damage from weather, contact with guests or equipment, or anything that happens to it once it's placed. Second, if rain or snow is in the forecast we'll bring extra blankets and recommend a covered or moveable plan B.
Only if the piano is the main attraction (a concert, recital, or a soloist performing). For ceremony music, dancing, or background, our pianos stay close enough to pitch that tuning isn't necessary. We tune our rental pianos 12–15 times a year. Add-on tuning at the venue: $150.
One day is the standard rate. Each additional day is $75. Multi-week rentals are available. Reach out for a custom quote.
Upload a photo or short video of any stairs at the venue to safeandsoundpianos.com/upload and we'll lock in the price before you book. Most venues are flat or have a few porch steps and don't add anything significant to the rate.
A $200 refundable security deposit at booking. The balance is due on delivery.
Pickups or deliveries after 5 PM are +$75. Saturdays are +$75. We don't deliver on Sundays.
Yes — we have private indoor storage in Herriman, Utah. Climate is controlled to keep the piano stable, and access is restricted to our team only.
Upright piano storage is $50/month with a one-month minimum. After the first month, we prorate by the day. Grand piano storage is quoted based on size — text us for a number.
Yes — once you're done storing, the return fee is the same as a regular move from our facility to your location, based on stairs, distance, and piano size.
No maximum. We've had customers store for a few weeks during a remodel and customers who've stored for years.
Yes — pianos are sensitive to temperature and humidity swings, and our facility holds steady conditions year-round.
Only with your explicit authorization in writing — text or email is fine.
We don't tune customer pianos ourselves. We work with a small group of trusted local tuners and refer you to one based on your piano and location. Submit the tuning request form and we'll connect you with a partner who'll provide a confirmed quote.
Once a year, minimum. Pianos drift even when they're not played — temperature swings, humidity, and the slow stretch of strings all pull a piano out of tune over time.
Wait 2–4 weeks after the move so the piano can settle into its new environment, then book the tuning. Tuning the same day as a move is generally a waste — the piano will drift again as it acclimates.
Our tuning partners set their own rates based on the piano, the location, and how long it's been since the last tuning. A typical routine tuning runs around $150, but pricing varies. Once you submit the request form, the tuner we refer you to will give you a confirmed quote.
About 90 minutes for a routine tuning. Longer if the piano needs a pitch correction or hasn't been tuned in years.
No — digital pianos don't need tuning. They use sampled or generated sound rather than physical strings.
We don't do repairs in-house. The same partners we refer for tuning can handle most light repairs (sticking keys, a broken string, regulating action) and will refer out for major rebuilds.
After. Move it first, give it 2–4 weeks to acclimate, then book a tuning.
We tune our rental pianos 12–15 times a year, so they stay close to pitch. If your event truly needs the piano spot-on (a recital or recording), you can add venue tuning at booking for $150.
From uprights to grands — we'll get your piano there safely and on time.
